Nature's Net Wrap #64X5000NNWULTRA is the first compostable bale net wrap designed to perform in real cattle operation conditions. Made from plant-based renewable materials, it provides reliable bale strength for over 12 months during storage, transport and feeding.
It works with existing balers and requires no equipment modifications, making it easy to integrate into current workflows. Producers can handle, store and apply it just like traditional net wrap while gaining the benefit of composability after use.
Features and Benefits
• Proven to break down in the rumen if accidentally consumed during feeding
• Maintains bale strength for over 12 months in storage and feeding conditions
• No equipment changes are required — works with existing balers
• Same storage and handling as traditional net wrap
• Compostable on farm through bedding and manure packs
• Recommended wrap counts align with industry standards
• BPI Compostable Certified (10529784)
Ultra Strength: Corn Stalk and Stover
• Works well in all baling conditions, including silage and high moisture
• Recommended for corn stalks, stover and hard-to-bale forages
• Stronger and thicker than the original, allowing for less wrap on bales
• Can be used in any brand of round baler
• Larger square size than original
Are any modifications required for my baler?
No modifications are required for your baler. Many models of Case IH and New Holland balers have successfully run Nature's Net Wrap, although some setting adjustments may be required.
Does Nature's Net Wrap require any special storage conditions?
Bales with this compostable net wrap do not require indoor storage. For storage up to 12 months, producers can stack their bales as normal. For storage over 12 months, we recommend stacking the bottom row of bales on end on the ground. The bales stacked on top should be on their side, net wrap side down.
Can cattle safely eat Nature's Net Wrap?
Yes, in 2025, the University of Saskatchewan and Lakeland College conducted a cattle rumen digestibility study with this new wrap. Although it is recommended to remove the net wrap prior to feeding, test results show that Nature's Net Wrap will break down in the rumen if accidentally consumed.
Can I compost Nature's Net Wrap?
Yes, on-farm composting is a great way to dispose of Nature's Net Wrap. A study completed in partnership with Lakeland College proved that this product breaks down and is fully consumed by the soil microbiome in a manure pack.
How does Nature's Net Wrap perform in different crop conditions?
Since 2022 Nature's Net Wrap has been successfully tested on:
• Dry hay, silage hay and other hard-to-bale forage crops
• Wheat, barley, oat and canola straw, including rotary combine dry short straw
• Green feed
• Silage bales
• Corn stalks and stover
• Hemp stalks
How many wraps should producers put on their bales?
We suggest starting with what you normally use for your current conditions and materials. Although you may need to make slight adjustments, many producers follow industry standards of 2 1/4 wraps for hay and 3 1/4 wraps for straw and other forages.
BPI Certification: What does it mean and why is it important?
BPI third-party certification distinguishes products that comply with rigorous scientific standards from those that do not. The BPI certification process ensures that Nature's Net Wrap is safe for the environment and can be safely cycled back into the soil at a commercial composting facility. The scientific testing is done to ASTM standards with additional restrictions on carcinogens and fluorinated chemicals.
